A short history...
Rupert Kinnard grew up on Chicago’s West Side and developed a passion for art and comics at an early age. His career spans editorial cartooning, publication design, political activism, and decades of groundbreaking queer comics.
In 1984, he launched Cathartic Comics, featuring Brown Bomber and Diva Touché Flambé. His work has since been recognized for its cultural importance, humor, and enduring contribution to LGBTQ and African American comic history.
